Need something to do on the bus? Or at work? If you like chess, this is a real gem.
When you switch the game you see a quick gameloft logo, followed by some copyright info, then a loading screen, and then it asks you if you would like sound in the game. All this takes about 5 seconds, and then, after pressing any key you like, you're at the main menu.
You can start playing chess right away, and on the screen between pressing new game, and the actual game screen itself it only takes a couple of seconds to amend key settings like difficulty, what colour you are, whether you would like to play a computer or a human, and the amount of time the computer gets to make a move.
In terms of graphics, this is no 3d masterpiece but let's face it: it's for the phone. It's pretty enough as it is, and if you play the quiz mode, where you get to attempt to set the record for clearing a series of chess challenges, you get different colour schemes to add some variety to the game.
In terms of audio, there are no in-game tunes; there is only a quick introduction during the start-up screen. If you're planning to play on the bus, or at work mind, you probably don't want all that anyway.
So to sum up, this game is definitely worth a fiver, and if you do spend on this game, after download and installation it only takes about 10 seconds from starting the game up for you to be playing a real chess treat.

| Tyrone Harrison | This chess game is very good. Just what I expected from the chessmaster series. The levels are good and there are plenty of options to suit your play. I have a nokia 6126 so the pieces and instru. Are hard to see, but if you like chess, you will enjoy playing this ai... At home, I set up my board and play like that... So I can see what's going on... Lol... I still have good games with the beginning level. So I guess that means im butt... Ha ha...
