Customer Review of Midnight Hold Em Poker

D ElphThis is the first mobile poker game I have purchased and though I might not have any comparison I really can't fault this title.

I did find that there were some glitches early on, as a couple of times the game completely froze as a match progressed from the table to a heads up final. I found that this was generally avoided by not pressing any buttons to skip the commentators comments and allowing it to load in its own time, I have not had this problem since.
The game play is very simple and easy to learn and yet the game has longevity as I have yet to progress very far in the career mode despite having the game a few weeks. Competitors aren't too predictable although are usually either conservative or gun-ho until the heads up, they hardly ever raise before the flop and whether you raise a little or alot makes little difference on their decision. My only gripes are that the commentators comments are usually blaitantly obvious and treat you like your a bit of a dummy and although I have unlocked new characters they do not seem to appear straight away should I leave and return to a game.

All round this is a very addictive game which is likely to keep any poker fan amused and in practice on the go. Worth the purchase!

Alun EvansI purchased midnight holdem because I had just been introduced to the game, and I wanted a chance to practice and learn as much as I could without having to play for real. I do not have any other game of poker and so I cannot compare it to any other of its kind, but I can say that in the few weeks I have had this game, I find myself continually playing it during quiet moments.
There is a tutorial and a few help topics and which should give most people a good idea of what to do. The game play is easy and fairly intuitive. The graphics adequately portray the game in progress visually, and there is a text prompt for when it’s your turn.
There are a few options, you can have sound on or off, I have to say I prefer it off, and there is an option to have a character pop up now and again with some comments “the host”, but again my preference is to have this turned off.
You can elect to play a “heads-up” game of one on one, “instant play” which involves a game with 3 or 4 players, or you can choose to play in “career mode.
On the whole I am very pleased with my purchase, the game does not have any down sides for me, I think its weakest feature is the sound, but as you do not have to have this turned on anyway, it does not detract from my enjoyment of the game.

Myonghwan EiselsteinSince chris moneymaker went from unknown to poker champion in one tournament, people everywhere have flocked to poker as the next best thing.

With this influx of people comes a desire to play poker anywhere and everywhere possible, so it was only natural that the poker world would be introduced to mobile technology.

Midnight hold 'em poker meets this challenge in a great way.

I actually have this game on two different phones, a samsung t309 and an n-gage qd. As can be expected, the graphics and sound are much crisper on the qd, but the samsung holds its own. Regardless of the phone, the different scenarios help promote that poker environment. There are several different computer players, each with their own facial expressions and habits i. E. Winking.

The layout of the screen is easy to understand; I was able to start playing right away without any hesitation.

The sound is very good as well. The menu song is "pick up the pieces" by average white band, which is a personal favorite of mine. You can also choose to turn the sound on or off (convenient for if you're playing at work).

The ai is a bit shaky. I haven't seen a pattern to suggest the computer is bluffing or not, but i've seen the computer go all in with 7, 2 in hand... Not very realistic considering this is statistically the worst hand to play pre-flop. But the ai will pick up on your play style; I tend to be more aggressive, which the computer will submit to for a little while. But if you keep up the aggressive play, the computer will begin to call your bluff.

There are three different play modes: instant, heads up and career. Instant is exactly how it sounds and heads up pits you up against a random computer player to go one on one. In career mode, you start with $500 and try to make your way to the top tournaments. You will even get heads up challenges from computer opponents in between tournaments.

There are only two things about this game that I do not like:

    1. During the betting, the announcer will pop up with some commentary. It can get pretty annoying as you have to wait for the animation to finish; you can't press a button to skip the commentary.

    2. The play can be slow. There is an option to skip a hand that you've folded in, and the computer will fast forward through the hand. But if you decide to stay in, the flop, river and turn cards are turned over pretty slowly. If there was only a "work" so that you can speed through hands when you're playing when you should be working.

All in all, this is a great poker game for your mobile phone. This is the first one i've owned, but have played a couple others and they do not compare. If you can only have one poker game, make this one it.
